ST MARGARET’S ANFIELD CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL

Hello and Welcome to Year 4

  • Our focus in Year 4 is working hard to learn whilst having fun. We reiterate that making mistakes is not a problem, and not something to get frustrated by, as they give us the chance to be able to learn from them. Perseverance and accountability are key skills that the children will develop this year and we will always encourage the children to make mature choices so that they develop good habits to ready themselves for UKS2 and beyond.

SWIMMING

This term, we have swimming on a Monday afternoon. Please bring your swimming costume, towel, swimming hat and goggles (if desired) to school with you on this day.

This half term, our PE lessons are on a THURSDAY. Please come to school wearing your full PE kit on this day.

Reading

Please encourage your child to read every night for around 5-10 minutes. Reading with your child will help them to develop a confidence and life-long love of reading as well as going a long way to removing this as a potential barrier to their learning.

We use Oxford Owl and Oxford Reading Buddy as our online reading platforms.

Multiplications

Please also ensure that your child learns all of their multiplication tables. It is a national expectation that, by the end of Year 4, children have confident recall of all multiplication tables up to 12×12. To this end, 5-10 minutes of daily practice on TTRockstars will help them to achieve greater confidence and faster recall.
