ST MARGARET’S ANFIELD CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL

RE Curriculum

Religious Education has an important and central place within our curriculum. Concepts and values are explored both through discrete RE lessons and through class and whole school Collective Worship.

We teach Religious Education every week and follow the Questful RE syllabus, as recommended by Liverpool Diocese, alongside the national resource ‘Understanding Christianity’. We consider the importance of religious texts, the impact faith has on lives and the connections we can make to the children’s own experiences and lives.

We are a Church of England Primary School and this is expressed in our distinctively Christian vision: Jesus said, “Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12). Therefore, by faith and work, we will be the change we want to see.

We aim to be a community in which the ethos and curriculum reflect the Christian principles on which the school was founded.

Religious Education gives the children an opportunity to explore Christianity in depth. RE also provides our pupils with time to learn about other world faiths as they develop a sense of fairness and justice for all people whatever their background and wherever they live. Our spiritual, moral, social and cultural education reinforces the children’s sense of awe and wonder and appreciation of others.
