Collective Worship
At St Margaret’s Anfield Church of England Primary School, Collective Worship is a central and valued part of daily school life. Rooted in our Christian vision—“With God, all things are possible”—it provides opportunities for pupils and staff to come together in reflection, prayer, and praise.
Collective Worship supports the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our pupils and is inclusive, invitational and inspiring. It enables children to explore Christian values while also reflecting on their own beliefs and experiences.
Our Approach to Collective Worship
Collective Worship takes place daily and is carefully planned to ensure a balance of whole school, key stage and class-based experiences.
- Whole School Worship
Each Monday, we welcome Father Peter from our local church who leads whole school worship. These sessions strengthen our links with the church and help children engage with Christian teaching in a meaningful and accessible way. - Celebration Worship
On Fridays, we gather as a whole school for a Celebration Assembly, where we recognise achievements, share successes and give thanks. This is an important time to celebrate our school community and live out our values of truth, fairness, justice and joy. - Class-Based Worship
Throughout the week, class worship follows a structured programme based on Roots and Fruits, exploring key Christian values over time.
We also use Picture News to help children reflect on current events, encouraging discussion, questioning and thoughtful responses to the world around them. - Hymns and Worship Through Song
We place importance on joining together in song and praise. Children regularly take part in hymn practice within their key stages, developing a shared sense of belonging and worship through music.
What to Expect in Worship
Collective Worship at St Margaret’s provides opportunities for pupils to:

- Respond to important local, national and global issues
- Celebrate achievements and express gratitude
Our worship is invitational, inclusive and refelctive which makes it accessible to all pupils, regardless of faith background, and encourages participation while respecting individual beliefs.
Parents have the legal right to withdraw their child from Collective Worship. If you wish to discuss this, please contact the school office.
Community and Partnership
We are proud of our strong partnership with our local church and the important role this plays in our worship life. Through these connections, children experience a living faith and develop an understanding of the Christian community beyond school.
