Welcome to 3M.
Your class teachers are Miss McNulty and Mr Key.
Homework is given out on a Monday and should be returned to school on a Friday.
3M have an exciting new visitor called Brian! He is a Giant African snail and he lives at home with Mrs. B. We have been looking after Brian and researching all about his species. This week we are going to write a non-chronological report about Giant African Land snails.
We have been working very hard in English. In our writing we have been studying ‘The Snowman’ by Raymond Briggs. We have written text for the pictures and imagined that we were James.
In our Guided Reading lessons, we have been studying Anne Fine, we have read ‘The Diary of a Killer Cat’. We really love it and have ordered some more books from the series. We have even written a letter to Anne Fine with our own chapters from the book.
Our Maths this half term is all about measure. We are working hard to measure length, weight and capacity. We are also learning to accurately tell the time. Every lesson we work on some tricky reasoning problems.
Science and DT
In Science we have been learning all about the different food groups and how to keep our bodies healthy. With this in mind, we have designed, made and evaluated healthy sandwiches. It was lots of fun and very delicious!
Today we worked in groups to build an alligator using Lego WeDo. We had to carefully follow the instructions and add cogs, a motion sensor and a motor.
When our alligator was ready, we then needed to create an
algorithm to make it work. We were able to instruct it to snap when the motion sensor was activated and we even added sounds to make it growl!
