Dear Year 1,
Hello! How are you? We hope you have had another fun week staying at home with your family. We would love to hear how you have been getting on, tell us by sending us pictures of your work and completing some of our fun daily challenges on our See Saw app!
We have created some new activities for you to complete at home this week. There are lots of things you can practice, play and make as well as problems for you to solve. You can even find a challenge this week where you can design your own setting and give instructions to complete a computer game!
We miss you lots and hope to see you soon, stay safe!

Word of the Week!
We know how much you love to discover and use new words, so we have decided to carry on with our ‘Word of the Week’ online. Even though we aren’t using our dojo rewards at the minute, still try to find out the meaning of the words and use them in any writing you do, and when you are talking if you can. Perhaps you could upload an example to your class blog on See-Saw – we would love to see it!
Take care – we are missing you all very much!
From Mrs Jones and the SMA Team 🙂
Welcome to our Class Page and thank you for taking the time to look at what we are doing in Year 1.
The following information might be helpful:
We send home a grid of activities for each term-please try and complete these with your child. The activities are designed to reflect what we are covering in class, to share their learning with you and to develop their oracy skills.
You should aim to read with your child every day. We love to hear about the books you are reading at home. School reading books will be changed and sent home once a week. Please write in your child’s home reading notebook to let me know how you think they are getting on, and when they have finished their book.
Our next session is Tuesday 24th March, 9.00 – 9.30a.m. We really look forward to seeing you there, the children love to share this special time.
As part of our RE curriculum the children have been thinking about signs of new life. We have looked at different plants and animals.
1W usually do PE on Tuesday. Sometimes this changes so it is helpful if your child has their PE kit in school all the time.
We are currently working on non-fiction writing. We love finding out lots of information.
