ST MARGARET’S ANFIELD CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL

P.E.

Intent

At St. Margaret’s Anfield we believe that Physical Education is a vital part of school life and ultimately children’s future physical and mental health and well-being. Therefore we provide a fully inclusive, broad and balanced PE curriculum based on the National Curriculum.

In Early Years we focus on the fundamentals of movement, co-ordination and basic skills leading into competition in KS1 through personal challenge and awareness of others in games. This is extended into KS2 through the acquisition of team work skills, attack/defence tactics, body strength, fitness, rhythm and game specific skills including leadership and officiating.

We try to ensure PE lessons are enjoyable and a positive experience for all regardless of ability. Children are actively encouraged to take part in competitions promoting a sense of fairness and respect. We link with local sports clubs and coaches ensuring sport is accessible for all.
