Welcome to 1S.
In Maths we have been measuring! We have used rulers to measure the length of different objects around the classroom. We have now moved on to weight and have been using scales to measure objects using cubes. We have started to learn that weight is measured in grams and kilograms and can’t wait to bake our own fairy cakes this week! 🙂
In English we have been reading traditional tales. We had lots of fun retelling the story using puppets and have sequenced and rewritten the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We have a bit of a problem though, the big bad wolf has gone missing and we need to find him. We are going to create a wanted poster for him, using some fantastic adjectives to describe what he looks like. So if you see a mean, scary wolf wandering around the school, be sure to let 1S know!
In Science we have been learning about the parts of the body. We have had lots of fun naming the different parts of our body. To warm up we played some games of ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ and ‘Miss Spittlehouse Says’ on the carpet. We had to follow our instructions and point to different parts of our bodies. After that we worked together in groups and drew around the body of one of our friends. Then we took it in turns to label our drawing with the names of each part of the body.
We have just started our new Topic on castles. In English we have learnt about loads of different princesses who live in castles. So far we have written some questions about what we would like to learn about castles and we can’t wait until our castle trip in June to find out even more about them.
